Latest Northeast Region fire update

MNR News Release ******************** NEW FIRES - No new fires were reported in the Northeast Region on Tuesday, July 12. Four new human-caused fires were reported by the evening of July 13. Chapleau 7 was reported west of Chapleau and is out at 0.

NEW FIRES - No new fires were reported in the Northeast Region on Tuesday, July 12.

Four new human-caused fires were reported by the evening of July 13. Chapleau 7 was reported west of Chapleau and is out at 0.1 hectares. Cochrane 14 was reported near Fort Albany and is under control at 0.1 hectares. Bancroft 2 was reported south of Bancroft and is under control at 0.1 hectares. North Bay 21 was reported near Kenny Forest Provincial Park and is not under control at 0.1 hectares. No issues are anticipated with these fires.

ACTIVE FIRES - Two additional fires are active in the region. Cochrane 6 is a lightning-caused fire and is being observed at 500.0 hectares.

It was reported southwest of Kashechewan. Cochrane 13 is a
lightning-caused fire and is being observed at 600.0 hectares. It was reported 30 kilometres southeast of Peawanuck.

FIRE HAZARD - The fire hazard is moderate in the southern portion of the region, but rises to high in the north because of increased temperatures and drying conditions.

SAFETY MESSAGE - Planning on enjoying a campfire this weekend? Keep your fire small, build it on bare rock or dirt, never leave it unattended and make sure it is completely extinguished before leaving the site. Drown! Stir! Drown!
