PROVINCIAL OVERVIEW - There are over 117 active fires burning in the province. We expect fire growth and smoke to continue on unsecured areas of fire line. Today's winds are in favour of reducing smoke issues throughout the Northwest Region.

There remain over 2,000 fire personnel engaged in fire suppression in Ontario. Starting midweek, firefighters from out of the province will rotate out with fresh crews coming back into Ontario from both British Columbia and the eastern provinces. MNR FireRangers are also rotating out for time off. Currently there are 643 fire personnel from other provinces helping with Ontario's fire fighting effort.

Fire teams continue to work closely with affected communities. All planned evacuations are completed and no further evacuations are in the forecast. A total of 3,591 people were evacuated from nine First Nations communities. MNR will continue to work with Emergency Management Ontario, affected communities and other partner agencies to plan and prepare for further evacuations if needed as well as returning evacuees home when conditions are safe.

A Restricted Fire Zone continues to be implemented on the north western regions of the province. More information on Restricted Fire Zones is available at Current Restricted Fire Zones in Ontario.
