Kevin Oschefski is dreaming of raising big cash for Rotary4Kids and is hoping area residents won't be caught napping when it comes to donating to the cause,

Kevin’s Longest Morning on KiSS 100.5 takes place for 29 hours straight next Wednesday morning from 10 a.m. through the next day.

It's the 16th annual event.

"I always get nervous, especially the last few days," admits the affable announcer. "Anxiety creeps up a little bit but it's all worth it. Thinking about it is the worse part because once you are into it and start hearing the stories and people start coming in to make donations and you just sort of ride that wave.

“When you meet these kids and their moms and dads and see how much impact these programs and this equipment has on their lives, I think the better question is how could you not?”

NADY (Nipissing Association for Disabled Youth) President Jim Stewart says the event leaves him speechless every year.

"I'm so glad to be part of it. I have a son who is in the program and I'm stunned every year by the generosity of our community. it's one of those things that binds our community together."

This ambassador this year is nine year old St Francis student Jaylyne Thompson.

Over $74,000 was raised last year.

Rotary4Kids Chair, Jeff Rogerson, stated, “Since its inception, the radio-a-thon has raised just over one million dollars that have gone towards numerous Rotary Children’s Committee projects such as the purchase of assistive devices, home renovations, vehicle conversions, enrollment into various programs, assistance to cover uninsured medical costs and out of town travel and funding for special needs teams, just to name a few”. The committee also provides approximately $30,000 in funding on an annual basis to NADY.

Donations can be made online now at www.rotary4kids.ca, www.longestmorning.ca or during the broadcast by calling 705-499-3109 or in person at the shopping centre or by mail.
