Hwy 17 East of McKerrow closed OPP cruiser involved (update)

The Espanola Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police are currently at the scene of a motor vehicle collision involving a tractor-trailer and an Espanola Police Service cruiser, which occurred at 1:55 p.m. on Highway 17, just East of the Town of McKerrow.

The officer was taken to Espanola General Hospital by ambulance with minor injuries and the driver of the tractor-trailer was not injured.

Two OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigators are on scene to assist with the investigation.

The highway is closed to all traffic and the detour through Jacklin Road is no longer available.

It is anticipated that the highway will be open to ONE lane of traffic at approximately 7:00 – 7:30 p.m. tonight.

The investigation is continuing. Further details will be released at a later time.

The Ontario Provincial Police advise the public that as of 2:45 p.m. Hwy 17 East of McKerrow is closed due to a motor vehicle collision.

The estimated time of the closure is unknown at this time and as of 4:15 p.m. there is no detour.
