A patient at the North Bay Regional Hospital has been charged with assault after a disturbance yesterday morning.
Police were called to the hospital to deal with an "unruly visitor."
The man had been brought to hospital emergency department by a friend who was concerned for his mental health.
On arrival, the man headed towards the emergency room doors where he laid on his back, blocking the doorway and causing a scene, says a police news release.
Police say when security personnel responded to the disturbance, a security guard was assaulted and suffered minor injuries.
The security officers arrested the man, held him in a security area of the hospital, and then contacted North Bay Police for help.
Police arrested and charged a 28-year old North Bay man with one count of assault.
He was taken to police headquarters, where he was held in custody for a bail hearing.
