Ho Ho Ho, it's Sensitive Santa

Santa loves coming to North Bay. He may visit your house December 25th.

Sensitive Santa is taking time out of a busy schedule to return to North Bay.

Hands TheFamilyHelpNetwork.ca, in partnership with Northgate Shopping Centre and Autism Ontario North East Chapter, have announced the return of “Sensitive Santa” this holiday season. Sensitive Santa provides an opportunity for children and youth with Autism to have a visit with Santa Claus in a sensory friendly environment.

Before the stores open, the lights are dimmed and the music is turned down.

Families are welcomed to their appointment with Santa by knowledgeable staff from Hands and Autism Ontario. These measures reduce the sensory overload that comes along with traditional Santa visits, which can include crowds and an abundance of lights and sounds.

"It is an incredible experience for local children, but also a sentimental moment for many families watching their child interact with Santa," said Samantha Simpson, Communications Coordinator.

Families who attend are also invited to participate in holiday activities and to chat with experts about available resources and supports.

When asked about his return for a special visit, Santa said “I look forward to seeing all of the wonderful boys and girls in North Bay; it is one of my favourite places to visit!”

Sensitive Santa will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, November 20, and Sunday, December 4, at Northgate Shopping Centre.

Appointments are required.

Families are asked to email [email protected] or call Hands at 705-476-2293 ext. 1323 to reserve a visit with Santa.
