"We will not tolerate this outrageous blackmail or bullying of our citizens or our furry friends,"

The seizure by the OSPCA of 71 dogs from a rescue farm in Trout Creek this summer has drawn the attention of Anonymous.

Wikipedia says Anonymous is a "loosely associated international network of activist and hacktivist entities. A website nominally associated with the group describes it as "an internet gathering" with "a very loose and decentralized command structure that operates on ideas rather than directives".The group became known for a series of well-publicized publicity stunts and distributed denial-of-service attacks on government, religious, and corporate websites."

A video posted to Youtube accuses the OSPCA of blackmail and suggests it "rethink its actions now".

"We will not tolerate this outrageous blackmail or bullying of our citizens or our furry friends," it continues.

A computer generated voice says the group expects the OSPCA to withdraw a written statement asking for $104,000 for the dogs return.

"You are not a professional collection company and threatening the lives of the animals for money is not what the OPECA should be concentrating on", says the video.

The video ends with an ominous "We do not forgive. We do not forget. Expect us."

And the Anonymous North Bay Facebook page.

An OPP spokesman told BayToday that officers are currently in contact with the OSPCA regarding the video, while the OSPCA says the organization is also looking into it.

Rebecca Ashworth, owner of the rescue farm called the Laika Fund for Street Dogs, says she is not sure if the video is genuine or not.

A hearing by the Animal Care Review Board into the seizure of the 71 dogs from the dog rescue farm is set to resume Monday in North Bay.
