North Bay City Council voted unanimously to rename the stretch of waterfront to the Goulet Golden Mile Monday night during the regular meeting of council.

Reading from newspapers that date back to 1969 Mayor Victor Fedeli said it was high time that council recognise former Mayor and businessman Bruce Goulet’s effort to develop what is now the jewel in the city’s crown.

The editorial said the development area was one solitary mile that cries out for attention and development. It also pointed out that the development was pure, that no one involved had an axe to grind, and that no one would realise profit from the venture.

Councillor Tom Graham agreed noting that when he thinks of Goulet he thinks class – first class.

The dedication will take place Friday August 30th at the waterfront.
