A neighbour’s dispute Thursday sent West Nipissing Police to the Verner area initially to solve the problem.

The officer arrived at the St. Laurent street home and was told by one of the complainants that another man had threatened him.

As a result, the 49 year old man was arrested and charged with 3 counts of Fail to Comply with a Probation Order, one count of Criminal Harassment and one count of Threatening.

Meanwhile, on August 30th, Verner was also the scene of a call in relation to a woman that was causing a disturbance at a restaurant located on Hwy 17.

Police arrived and found a 52 year old woman.

After speaking with her it was obvious to the officer that she had psychological issues and was brought to the hospital for an assessment.

Upon searching her belongings, the officer located approximately one pound of suspected dried marijuana.
The accused was later released from custody on an Appearance Notice.

And this past Saturday a shoplifting call was received from a grocery store located on King St.

When police arrived, an 18 year old man was being restrained after being caught stealing a package of cheese curds by store staff.

The owner of the store did not want to lay any criminal charges but the man was issued a Trespass to Property Act notice and told never to return to the store.
