Freezing rain warning in effect

Environment Canada ended the Freezing rain warning for North Bay - Powassan - Mattawa and West Nipissing - French River. Freezing rain and ice pellets forecast this evening. Freezing rain continues across many portions of Northeastern Ontario.

Freezing rain continues across many portions of Northeastern Ontario. Sudbury has had four hours of continuous freezing rain so far and there have been reports of 10 mm of ice accretion between the town of Spanish and St Joseph Island.

The freezing rain has changed over to snow over Sault Ste Marie where an additional 5 cm of snow is expected before tapering off this evening.

The freezing and ice pellets will continue across portions of Northeastern Ontario late this afternoon and into the early evening hours before changing to snow.

Motorists are encouraged to drive carefully as untreated roads could be slippery in freezing rain.

An early April winter storm is developing over the central us and will track northeast to reach Manitoulin Island by tonight.
