The Conseil scolaire catholique Franco-Nord is pleased to announce the appointment of Richard Marleau to the position of Superintendent of Education, effective August 1, 2009. It is at the school board’s extraordinary meeting held July 7, 2009 that the trustees authorized this appointment.

Mr. Marleau obtained his supervisory officer qualifications and has been working as part of the administrative team since November 2007. Mr. Marleau has been a teacher, an academic coordinator, an education officer with the Education Quality and Accountability Office and a school principal. “His expertise, experience, and commitment toward the mission of French-language Catholic schools make him a definite asset,” declared Cynthia Roveda, Director of Education for the Conseil scolaire catholique Franco-Nord. Following a restructuring at the administrative level, the Board’s academic management team will be comprised of a director of education and two superintendents. The position of administrative assistant will be abolished.

Conseil scolaire catholique Franco-Nord operates 17 Catholic French-language schools, 14 elementary and 3 secondary. More than 3,300 students attend these schools which are situated in the municipalities of Thorne, Mattawa, Astorville, Bonfield, North Bay and West Nipissing.
