Four new fires confirmed for the area

Four new fires were confirmed on July 4. North Bay 53 was reported at 0.1 hectares and has since been called out. Sudbury 104, at 0.5 hectares, Sudbury 105, at 0.5 hectares, and Sudbury 106, at 1.5 hectares, are being held. There are no issues anticipated with these new fires.

Timmins 30, reported on July 3, is under control at 2.5 hectares. Timmins 31, also reported on July 3, is under control at 1.4 hectares. Hearst 31, reported last week, is now listed as under control and remains at 485 hectares in size.

Residents are reminded that if found responsible for a forest fire, they can be charged under the Forest Fires Prevention Act and/or be liable for the costs of suppressing the fire. This cost can easily run into the tens of thousands of dollars.
