Harvey Villneff is running for office again in the 2018 municipal election but instead of running for mayor like he did in 2014, this time the 59-year-old semi-retired security consultant has filed his nomination papers to run for North Bay City Council.

“I saw that the people really did not want a change in the mayor position and I offer a lot, I can do a lot for the city and I figured if I got in I could help change things,” said Villneff.

Villneff says his biggest concern is the West Ferris area.

“I want to help the whole city but I live in West Ferris, and West Ferris is completely dying out. It seems like the council now doesn’t seem to acknowledge this part of the city.

“There is so much closing here that I want to represent this side of the city and try to get more going on here.”

Villneff is the 14th person to run for the 10 seats on North Bay City Council.

Nominations for council and school board must be filed by 2 p.m. on nomination day, Friday, July 27.

The election will be held Monday, October 22, Voters will elect mayors, Councillors, school board trustees and all other elected officials in all of the province's municipalities.
