An Alberta man is lucky to be alive today after thick fog caused an accident yesterday morning that closed Highway 11 three km north of the city.

OPP say a transport was pulling out of the PetroCan service station heading south at around 10:30, when it was hit by a pickup truck heading north.

The sole 30 year old male driver of the pickup couldn't see the transport, and piled into the trailer portion.

The North Bay Fire Department used the Jaws of Life to extricate the driver of the pick-up.

He was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries

Two people in the transport were uninjured.

The pickup was totalled according to police.

No charges have been laid.

Weather has played a big role in area accidents lately.

The Almaguin Highlands OPP investigated 24 motor vehicle collisions between Tuesday November 18, and Thursday November 20, during that heavy snow fall.

There were no major injuries to any of the drivers or passengers involved in the collisions.
