A number of area residents north of the city were stunned to see an airplane sitting on a city road this morning.

Adam Avison was on his way to work but was completely shocked to see a float plane sitting on his neighbourhood street.

"I live on Four Mile Lake when I went to work today it was just sitting there, had already landed, and cops were on site," said Avison.

He says it was certainly an unexpected early morning wake up call.

"Well before the morning coffee it's definitely something I wasn't expecting.  It scared me at first I thought it was still moving," he said.

Avison says the float plane, which has wheels, was moved off the road around 8:30 a.m. and taken to a boat launch on Four Mile Lake.

Police confirm that the plane was actually on a trailer and fell off and did not arrive on the road by emergency landing.

"There's no damage and no one was hurt," stated North Bay Police Communications Coordinator Marie Lugli.

"The plane was on a trailer going down the road to bring to the plane launch on a trailer and as they were trying to maneuver it, the plane came off the trailer."

Lugli adds that the plane owner faces no charges in the mishap.
