North Bay fire crews are currently battling a residential fire on the 800 block of McIntyre Street East.

At one point from the street onlookers could see flames shooting out of the basement and roof top.

Details are limited at this time as the fire is still working and Chief Fire Prevention Officer Randy Vezina has not had the opportunity to be briefed by the unit commander, speak with the tenants involved, or examine the scene. What he could tell the media is that the call came in at 11:43am and crews were on scene three and a half minutes later to find the building engaged. He notes that firefighters from all three stations are on scene.

"It's a three station response, we have committed all three stations, and we have about 16 firefighters on scene," he states.

"There is still very active fire ground operations going on."
