Final show at the Moe Ze On Inn, but it's a big one!

'Because the building is condemned you can't go inside so we have to treat it with a lot of caution and protect the public'

It's the final performance, and the old girl literally brought the house down.

Thursday afternoon saw the opening of a three-day act, as steel jaws crashed into the motel, empty, with not a g-string in sight for the last three years.

See: Local strip club goes t**s-up.

And: The bare facts laid out for the demolition of strip club

Yesterday, with any remaining dignity stripped bare except for a black curtain to keep dust down, work began on leveling the Pinewood Park Drive establishment.

The guy tearing it down, Colin Ellsworth, is the owner of the demolition company Colin's Haulage and Environmental Services.

Ellsworth told BayToday that the job is a bit unusual because the building has deteriorated so much.

"Because the building is condemned you can't go inside so we have to treat it with a lot of caution and protect the public," Ellsworth said while getting ready to start work.

"It's going to be all done by the excavator. We're using water to keep the dust from flying and putting a barrier along the fence to stop anything from getting out. There is about six or seven feet of water, the basement is full and all the material coming out of here will be saturated."

The water will be pumped out as work progresses and will be backfilled at the same time.

"You can't go inside and you can't take any chances. It has to be done from the outside to protect everybody involved in the operation."

The demolition remains will be loaded into trucks and taken to the North Bay landfill.

"We'll have half a dozen trucks come in when it's all separated. We'll be separating the metal and the wood."

There is speculation that the property will be used to house a casino and it is zoned for that use,  but the company managing the project has not announced where they plan to build.

And what will this site look like once done?

"It will look like the Moe Ze On Inn was never here," Ellsworth smiled.
