With 2211 pounds of food and over $2000 in cash collected for the North Bay Food Bank Friday officials with the North Bay Fire and Emergency Services are calling the ‘Fill a Fire Truck’ event a great success.

Food bank officials note that summer sees an increase demand on shelves locally while the amount of food donations dwindle causing what they call a food drought.

“The citizens of North Bay never disappoint when it comes to helping out our neighbours in need,” said Amber Livingstone, Manager of the North Bay Food Bank.

“We are blessed to live in a generous community. The donations collected today will be passed along to our clients, and are very much appreciated.”

North Bay Fire and Emergency Services will continue to accept donations at all three Fire Stations till the end of June.

The North Bay Food Bank is available to take food and monetary donations year round.

The food bank is located at 1319 Hammond Street in North Bay and is open to serve clients Mondays and Fridays from 9:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m., and Wednesdays from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. For more information, call the North Bay Food Bank at 705-495-3290.
