Fall trial for North Bay constable

A lawyer for North Bay police officer Stephen Taylor was in court Friday morning. Taylor's case was to be spoken to because of his criminal charge of refusing to provide a sample to be screened for alcohol.

Taylor's case was to be spoken to because of his criminal charge of refusing to provide a sample to be screened for alcohol.

Defense counsellor Setu Purohit spoke to line 258 of the North Bay courthouse docket. Purohit said he was the acting agent representing Stephen Taylor. Taylor’s lawyer is Thomas Hicks.

Justice Greg Rogers set the trial date for October 16, to take place in courtroom 305.

The presiding judge is yet to be determined but will be sought from out of the Nipissing region. 

Taylor was not present during the morning proceedings in courtroom 101.

To refresh, a North Bay OPP officer on patrol stopped a weaving vehicle on December 4th, 2014. As a result, Taylor was charged with fail or refuse to provide a breath sample contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.

Taylor faced impaired charges before. He was reprimanded with a nine month period of a reduction in rank to second class constable.
