Facebook threats lead to police investigation

Police received a complaint from a young female advising that she was receiving threats via Facebook.

West Nipissing Police are investigating after they received a complaint from a young female worried that she was receiving threats via Facebook. 

Police learned that a conversation between the female and a male took place regarding a previous incident.

The man didn't like what he was being told, at which time he began to threaten the woman's life and that of her family. 

In other West Nipissing Police Service news:

  • On May 28th, police received a complaint of assault. The investigating officer learned that a male and female have been involved in a relationship for quite some time and the relationship was described as volatile at times. The officer discovered that over the last couple of weeks that relationship has deteriorated and the couple has been arguing constantly. The arguing escalated to physical altercations and both parties now face charges of assault.

 

  • On May 28th while investigating a separate incident police learned that the victim/complainant was being harassed by her ex-boyfriend. Police learned that the accused had been previously charged and convicted for uttering threats and was placed on Probation in February. One of the conditions of his probation order is that he not communicate with the complainant. The investigation revealed that the male has for the last several months communicated and has been following the complainant from place to place. The male now faces charges of Criminal Harassment and breach of Probation.

 

  • On May 28th police received a complaint of a theft from an island cottage. The complainant informed police that a 35Hp Johnson boat motor along with assorted tools were stolen. Police continue their investigation into this matter.

 

  • On May 28th a Second Street resident contacted police to report a Break and Enter. Police responded and learned that the complainant had left her residence the previous day and when she returned she discovered that her 32 inch television had been stolen. Police are currently investigating the matter.

 

  • On May 29th received a complaint that an island cottage had been entered and property had been stolen. The complainant advised police that the culprits appear to have gained entry through one of the cottage’s rear windows. A number of small items were taken and police continue their investigation.

 

  • On May 29th a William Street resident contacted the police to report that he was the victim of a theft. Police learned that the culprit entered onto the complainant’s property and left with a Honda generator. This investigation is ongoing.
