The ramp leading to the East Ferris library may become more comfortable for users with plans underway to secure funds to purchase a covering.
With curb-side pickup the only way to access library materials, the ramp has been receiving a lot of use.
When the library has been open, only a few are allowed within to accommodate Covid restrictions, which forces patrons to line up.

“We want to enhance the experience for users,” explained Jennifer Laporte, the library’s CEO.
“The library has been looking at ways to make it more comfortable,” inside and outside the building, “and we decided to look into grants for an awning to cover the ramp.”
A new awning, which would cover the approximately 20 ft long ramp, would significantly increase the comfort for those waiting to enter.
As of Wednesday, the library reopens, with new summer hours of 11 to 6. Lines are expected.
The awning plan is in the “preliminary stages,” Laporte said, adding that library staff are partnering with the municipality to locate funding opportunities.
