Day 4 round-up from Boost National curling at Memorial Gardens

BayToday's daily rink-side coverage of the Boost National 2022 event from Memorial Gardens continues on Saturday as there are four tiebreaker games at 8:30 a.m., the women's quarter-finals go at noon, the men's quarters at 4 p.m., then the semis for both at 8 p.m.

The round robin portion of the Pinty's Grand Slam of Curling Boost National 2022 at Memorial Gardens is complete.

NORTH BAY, Ont. — The round robin is over at the Pinty's Grand Slam of Curling Boost National 2022 at Memorial Gardens.

Two women's teams are still undefeated.

Satsuki Fujisawa and Silvana Tirinzoni both won on Friday to go to 4-0.

Tirinzoni defeated Kaitlyn Lawes 7-3 and Fujisawa edged Kerri Einarson 7-6.

Three other rinks are 3-1, including Einarson, Rachel Homan and Team Keiser.

Homan edged Eunjung Kim 8-6 and Keiser lost 6-4 to Chelsea Carey.

Six other rinks are 2-2 and tiebreakers will be needed to make the quarter-finals. That list includes Jennifer Jones who defeated Isabella Wrana 9-4, Wrana, Lawes, Carey, Eun Ji Gim who overwhelmed Anna Hasselborg 10-4 and Tabitha Peterson who defeated Daniela Jentsch 9-3.

Krista McCarville finished 1-2 after winning 7-2 over Hollie Duncan. 

On the men's side, there are two unbeaten teams, Niklas Edin and Brad Gushue.

Edin outscored Michael Brunner 9-5 while Gushue prevailed 5-3 over Colton Flasch.

Four other teams finished at 3-1. They are Brendan Bottcher who beat Marco Hosli 7-4, Matt Dunstone who topped Reid Carruthers 7-4, Kevin Koe who beat Mike McEwen 7-4 and Korey Dropkin who was a 5-3 winner over Bruce Mouat.

Three other teams finished at 2-2 necessitating one tiebreaker.  They are teams Brunner, Flasch and Hosli.

in other games, Glenn Howard won his first, 8-5 over Joel Retornaz and Ross Whyte edged Team Schwaller 7-6.

On Saturday, there are four tiebreaker games at 8:30, the women's quarter-finals at noon, the men's quarters at 4 and the semis for both at 8.
