Cops stop fight from happening

North Bay Police Service officers were able to stop what could have been a vicious fight from breaking out Monday afternoon. The officers were called to a residence in the 200 block of Worthington Street around 4 p.m.

The officers were called to a residence in the 200 block of Worthington Street around 4 p.m., told a fight was about to start among a group of people involved in a property dispute.

The man whose home the people were visiting exited the residence with a baseball bat. One of the uninvited visitors, a 15-year-old male, also produced a baseball bat.

Cst. Peter Brunette and Cst. Shawn Devine, as well as other officers who attended, were able to stop the incident from progressing into a full-blown fight.

Jason Sanipass, 28, of Worthington Street W is charged with Weapons Dangerous and Obstruct Police (giving false information to police). He is to appear in court Aug. 24.

The male young offender was charged with Weapons Dangerous and Breach of Probation and is to appear in court on the Aug. 25.
