North Bay police constable Steve Taylor will spend 45 days in jail after pleading guilty to impaired operation of a motor vehicle in court yesterday.

He will serve the time on weekends.

Taylor is also prohibited from driving for three years, and will serve 18 months probation as part of his sentence. It's his third drinking and driving related charge.

The 40 year old has been an officer for about 15 years, and the charge results from an incident on July 14th last year when he was pulled over by a fellow officer for erratic driving on Lakeshore Drive.

He was off-duty at the time and blew more than three times the legal limit when taken to police headquarters.

Taylor has previously told BayToday that he suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder, but did not return a call for comment on his sentence.

Taylor begins that sentence tomorrow.
