This is an update on the watershed conditions for Lake Nipissing. Please be advised that the Flood Watch issued by the North Bay-Mattawa Conservation Authority on May 7, 2013 for Lake Nipissing has been CANCELLED.

Over the past three weeks, the Lake Nipissing watershed has experienced favourable weather conditions that have resulted in the decrease in water levels within the watershed. The level of Lake Nipissing is currently 195.96 metres which is at the top of the summer operating range for the lake and 13 centimetres above the long term average.

Although the level of Lake Nipissing remains higher than normal, the forecast for the next five days does not foresee any significant precipitation, therefore, continued decline in the level of the lake is expected. Water managers are predicting a 0.5 centimeter drop in the lake over the next few days.

Staff at the North Bay-Mattawa Conservation Authority will continue to monitor weather and watershed conditions and provide updates if conditions change.

The general public is advised of these messages through the www.nbmca.on.ca website with the flood status icon and a link to information about current conditions. NBMCA also issues these messages to local media.
