The Empire Retirement Residence, is opening its doors to the community so citizens can open their hearts to Support The North Bay Warming Centre.

The warming centre offers comfort, food, warming supplies like blankets, gloves and socks, as well as a place to spend the night when the temperatures plummet.

It's located in St. John's church of Main Street.

On Friday February 6th; from 11am to 1:30pm, the public will be welcome to drop by for lunch and get a hot bowl of chili prepared by the culinary team at The Empire in exchange for a donation to The Warming Centre.

For a minimum $5 donation, guests will receive a bowl of chili, a bun and a cookie.

The Empire's General Manager Ariane Savard, says the Warming Centre is especially important at this time of year. "We help lots of great causes throughout the year, but seeing the hard work of all the volunteers at The North Bay Warming Centre inspired us to find a way to help, as quickly as we could."

Empire Outreach Manager Mike Anthony adds “we’re always trying to find ways to connect with our neighbours. The Empire is a community in itself, and we see the importance of reaching out to the broader community, as well.
