An unusual traffic accident in Callander yesterday afternoon sent one person to hospital with serious injuries. Police say that at approximately 2:42 p.m.

An unusual traffic accident in Callander yesterday afternoon sent one person to hospital with serious injuries.

Police say that at approximately 2:42 p.m. yesterday they were called to a motor vehicle collision on Main Street North at Catherine Street in Callander, in front of the Lucky 13 convenience store.

A 79-year old North Bay man was issued a Provincial Offence Notice for careless driving after he lost control of his car.

North Bay Police originally issued an inaccurate report of the accident to the media. The correct information has now been added.

The man struck a parked pickup truck while he was travelling northbound on Main Street North and attempting to turn into the parking lot of Lucky 13 at Catherine Street.

The driver of the parked truck, who was hit while he was leaving his truck to enter the store at the time, sustained injuries.

Paramedics took him to hospital, where he remains today.

Both vehicles, as well as the corner store’s sign, were damaged. There is some damage to the truck and the car is totaled. 

There were no other injuries.
