The North Bay Police Service wishes to warn the public that in today’s uncertain economic times, there is no shortage of fraud schemes trying to get people to part with their money. Individuals should still be aware of the potential risks of becoming a victim of fraud, and be suspicious of get rich quick schemes, or deals that are too good to be true.

Most fraud schemes involve sending money to individuals using Money Service Companies, however these same companies promote that their services are intended to be used for sending money to people you know and not for business transactions.

Be wary of sending money to anyone you have never met personally, and from sending money to individuals in foreign countries.

Education on Fraud schemes is the best defense against being the victim of fraud or identity theft.
