City police issue fraud caution

The North Bay Police want to caution the public about recent apartment frauds.

Advertisements on Kijiji of local apartments for rent where the landlord is out of town have been determined to be fraudulent. Communication with the landlord is usually by the internet and the price is usually lower than expected. Pictures of the building and apartment are supplied and the keys will be forwarded when the first and last month’s rent is received through Western Union.


Persons seeking apartment accommodation should never send money prior to dealing with someone in person while they are being showed the apartment. If the rent and conditions are too good to be true, they usually are.
