The City of North Bay will be eligible for over $37,000 as part of the provincially administered Municipal Transit Enhanced Cleaning (MTEC) funding program.
At Tuesday's virtual regular meeting, North Bay City Council will be asked to approve the transfer payment agreement from the Ministry of Transportation.
Ontario is dividing up to $15 million among 110 municipalities across the province using a modified version of the province’s gas tax funding formula.

The funds are designed to "support enhanced cleaning of municipal public transit systems to keep passengers and employees safe and help reduce the transmission of COVID-19," according to the Ontario government. Direct enhanced transit cleaning costs incurred by the municipality on or after April 1, 2020, and on or before December 31, 2020, will be eligible for inclusion.

With Council approval, the City of North Bay will be eligible to receive an allocation of up to $37,477, according to the funding formula using the same data that determines the allocation of 2019-20 gas tax funding to municipalities. There is a $500 base amount for each eligible recipient, plus the funding determined by the allocation formula.
North Bay City Council will hold its regular meeting online Tuesday at 6:30 p.m.
