A public access to Four Mile Lake named Springdale Acres may soon have a new name.

Councillor Mark King has a motion before Council to rename it “Four Mile Lake Veterans Memorial Beach.”

A previous plan, to name it "Algonquin Regiment Park" has been dropped.

See: New city park with lake access to honour Algonquin Regiment

Bill Parfitt a former member of the Squadron 115 Witchford No. 10 Bombing and Gunnery had the idea to rename of the property with the strong support from Legion Branch 23 to honour all veterans.

Parfitt is a longtime resident and volunteer in that neighbourhood.

A sign will be erected in the summer.
