During the unfortunate residential fire that took place in Callander during the evening of July 09 and early morning hours of July 10/2012, there was an additional 750 cubic meters (750,000 liters) of water used over a 9 hour period to fight the fire.

At this time, it is believed that the excessive amount of water being put through the distribution system over such a short period of time may have dislodged some scaling or other debris contributing to the discoloration.

There have been many addresses that OCWA operators have visited since the fire.

Through the sampling conducted it has been concluded that the water in each of these locations is fit for consumption, albeit discolored.

It may be necessary for residents to run their taps for a few minutes to flow through the discoloration period.
