Action is heating up in the fall federal election.

Jordy Carr has announced her intention to seek the Conservative party nomination in Nipissing-Timiskaming.

The small business owner and Callander councillor feels the north has been forgotten by the Trudeau Liberals.

“It’s time our district had a new face and a strong voice in Ottawa. The status quo is not working”, she said in a release.

Carr believes it’s time for an MP that will respect taxpayers and job creators.

Carr wants to focus on economic development in the riding – mining, forestry, farming, and tourism.

“Government needs to help, not hinder economic development in Nipissing-Timiskaming and the North," she said.

Carr is even calling out Anthony Rota in relation to the SNC Lavalin Scandal and Justin Trudeau’s treatment of Jody Wilson-Raybould and Jane Philpott.

She feels corruption needs to be rooted out in Ottawa.

“While Anthony Rota stood silently by as Trudeau kicked two, principled women MPs from the Liberal Caucus, I will stand up and speak out for what’s right,” she said.

“I look forward to speaking with Conservative members over the coming weeks.  With their help, I will be the next Conservative candidate in Nipissing-Timiskaming and am ready to take the fight to Justin Trudeau.”

Carr is the first to put forth a nomination form for the Conservatives. Former MP Jay Aspin and North Bay councillor Mark King are both expected to be interested.

Rota has already been selected as the Liberal candidate.
