Here's some news we didn't want to deliver. Temps will drop so low tonight that Environment Canada has issued a frost advisory.

Frost is defined as a layer of ice that forms on surfaces that are at or below zero. Sometimes frost can occur on your lawn overnight, even though your thermometer may never have dropped to the freezing mark. This is because cold air on clear, calm nights sinks to ground level.

Environment Canada says that may happen tonight and may damage some plants and crops in frost-prone areas. Patchy frost is expected after midnight into early Wednesday morning as nighttime minimum temperatures are expected to fall to near zero degrees Celsius for many areas.

Take preventative measures to protect frost-sensitive plants and trees.

This afternoon will be clear with the wind northwest at 20 km/h becoming light this evening. Low zero with patchy frost.

A frost advisory is in effect for:

  • North Bay - Powassan - Mattawa
  • West Nipissing - French River
  • Greater Sudbury and vicinity
