Breakfast With Stephen Lewis

Mayor Vic Fedeli and his wife Patty hosted an early morning fundraiser for the AIDS Committee of North Bay and Area Friday.

Mayor Vic Fedeli and his wife Patty hosted an early morning fundraiser for the AIDS Committee of North Bay and Area Friday.

For a thousand bucks a seat, ten local business leaders paid for the opportunity to have a quiet breakfast with UN Special Envoy for HIV/AIDS Stephen Lewis.

Lewis, head of the Stephen Lewis Foundation and former Canadian Ambassador to the United Nations, took time out of his hectic schedule for breakfast during his visit to the Bay. Lewis is in North Bay for a number of appearances that included a speech at Nipissing University Thursday night, and a talk with Rotarians Friday at the Clarion during the Rotary Club’s annual conference.

The 10 thousand dollars raised from the Friday morning event will be put towards the AIDS Committee of North Bay and Area’s clients’ needs.

The funds will be used for items like food vouchers, travel grants and subsidies for those living with, or affected by HIV/AIDS in North Bay and surrounding area.
