Break and enter suspect arrested

Someone had forced entry into the rear of the building and stolen approximately $3,700 worth of cigarettes, knives, lighters and electronics

North Bay Police have made an arrest in a Lakeshore Drive break and enter investigation.

Shortly before 7 a.m. on Sunday police responded to an alarm in the 500 block area of Lakeshore Drive.

Someone had forced entry into the rear of the building and stolen approximately $3,700 worth of cigarettes, knives, lighters and electronics.  

The thief fled the scene prior to police arrival.

Meanwhile, in an unrelated investigation, an officer went to a Lakeshore residence Sunday morning. During this separate investigation, police were able to establish a link between a man and the break and enter.  

Police recovered the stolen property from the residence.

James Thomas, 33, of North Bay is charged with:

  • Break and enter
  • Breach of probation.

Thomas is being held in custody pending a bail hearing at the North Bay Courthouse today.
