Justin Brazeau made the most of his first experience playing in the National Hockey League with the Boston Bruins on Monday afternoon in Boston against the Dallas Stars.

After going down 2-1 early in the second period, Trent Frederic and Boqvist set up Brazeau at the net front to tie it 2-2 at 1:32.

"I kind of blacked out, honestly," Brazeau told the Hockey News.

"[Richard] asked me where it went and I said I had no idea. I just shot it and heard the crowd go crazy, so that's obviously a good feeling.'

On Sunday, the Bruins announced they signed the New Liskeard product to a two-year, two-way contract. The contract will carry through the end of the 2024-25 season, with a cap hit of $775,000.

Brazeau, 26, becomes the 7th oldest Bruins player to score his first NHL goal in his first NHL game.

Brazeau says it was well worth the wait.

"It's a cool feeling," Brazeau said to the Hockey News.

"It's been a long time coming for me. I've worked hard to get here, so to see that, it kind of comes full circle and feels really good."

His parents, Greg and Heather Brazeau from New Liskeard flew into Boston on Monday to catch the memorable game.

A 13th-round pick of the Battalion in 2014, Brazeau had a franchise record 61 goals and 52 assists in 68 games in his final season with the Troops in 2018-19.

Through 49 games this season with the Providence Bruins, the 6’5” forward has 18 goals and 19 assists for 37 points.

The big forward was originally signed by the Toronto Marlies as a free agent in 2019.

The 26-year-old joins other North Bay Battalion alum in the NHL including Michael Amadio of Las Vegas, Barclay Goodrow with the Rangers, and Nick Paul in Tampa Bay.

Brazeau, who also played for the Powassan Voodoos in their inaugural season in 2014-15, becomes the first player to wear a Voodoos jersey to play an NHL game.
