Big increase in COVID-19 cases in the region

The North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit is reporting a significant spike in COVID-19 cases in the region over the weekend. 

The Health Unit, which releases weekend numbers early Monday morning is reporting 10 new cases from the last report made on Friday, bringing the total number of cases in the region since March to 142. 

All the new cases are currently isolating. 

Three of the cases involve individuals aged 40 to 59, five include individuals aged 20 to 39 and two aged 60 to 79.

Two of the cases are currently under investigation, six involve close contact with a case, and the other two are considered community spread. 

Currently, there are 11 active cases in the Nipissing portion of the Health Unit district and eight in Parry Sound.
