The Ministry of Natural Resources would like to advise all deer hunters that there will be a deer check station at:
Farley’s Corners where Hwy 522 & Hwy 524 meet

November 9, 10 & 11th and 17th and 18th
8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. each day

These deer check stations will allow ministry staff to collect new biological information from harvested deer to compare to data collected in the past. This will give MNR biologists an idea of trends in deer population as well as hunter effort in Wildlife Management Unit (WMU) 47.

A ‘Deer Hunter’ crest will be handed out to all successful deer hunters who take the time to stop and provide ministry staff with the opportunity to collect the necessary information to update their records.

WMU 47 has seen a deer population increase due to the successive mild winters the area has been experiencing. This allowed MNR to provide more deer hunting opportunities by increasing the antlerless deer tag allocation from 4650 to 5650 for this year’s deer hunting season in WMU 47.
