POLICE INVESTIGATE MISCHIEF AND THEFT TO AECON CONSTRUCTION SITE

(SOUTH RIVER) On Tuesday September 6, 2011 at 7:00am police from the Almaguin Highlands Ontario Provincial Police detachment received a complaint of a mischief and theft from the Aecon Construction site in South River, ON.

The area is a large gravel pit where several different sub-contractors store their heavy machinery and equipment. Some time over the weekend between Friday September 2, 2011 and Tuesday September 6, 2011 unknown person(s) entered the gravel pit that is located on Ottawa Ave, South River ON and damaged a fuel truck by dumping a load of sand and gravel on it. Suspects also moved several different heavy equipment vehicles around the gravel pit and spray painted a paving machine with orange paint.
Suspects then tampered with a large generator located on the new highway that is used to pump water and they also stole some small tools including a Mastercraft ratchet and socket set.

EMSDALE MAN ARRESTED FOR IMPAIRED DRIVING

(PERRY, TWP) On Saturday September 10, 2011 at 6:10 pm police were conducting a R.I.D.E program (reduce impaired driving everywhere) at the intersection of Highway 592 and Bay Lake Road, Perry Township. A Chevrolet Tahoe approached the R.I.D.E program and the driver of the truck, Robert MARSHALL (49) of Emsdale, ON was subsequently arrested for having over 80 milligrams of alcohol in 100 milliliters of blood contrary to the Criminal Code of Canada.

The accused was also charged with driving while under suspension, contrary to the Highway Traffic Act, and drive motor vehicle with open container of liquor contrary to the Liquor Licence Act.

Police released the driver on a promise to appear and he is to appear in Sundridge court on Tuesday October 18, 2011.

TWO VEHICLE COLLISION, STRONG TOWNSHIP

(STRONG TWP) On Saturday September 10, 2011 at 9:23am Almaguin Highlands Ontario Provincial Police responded to a two vehicle collision at the intersection of Highway 11 and Boundary Road, Strong Township.

A 2008 Mazda was south bound on Highway 11, attempting to make a left turn onto Boundary Road, Strong Township when the driver observed a truck approaching her in the south bound lane. The driver of the Mazda, changed lanes to avoid a collision with the truck, but at the same time another south bound car, a 2000 Pontiac also switched lanes to avoid colliding with the truck but instead struck the rear of the Mazda. There were no injuries and no charges were laid.

BREAK ENTER AND THEFT TO AXE LAKE RESIDENCE

(McMURRICH/MONTEITH TWP) On Sunday September 11, 2011 at 7:20am Police from the Almaguin Highlands Ontario Provincial Police detachment investigated a break, enter and theft from an Axe Lake Road residence. Some time between Sunday September 4, 2011 and Friday September 9, 2011 unknown person(s) entered the seasonal residence and took two trail cameras, five boxes of rifle shells and some Crown Royal liquor.
