The North Bay Police Service wishes to advise the media that we are no longer looking for the missing person Andrew Niland.
We also would like to advise that the Coroner has authorized us to state that in regards to the body found in the bush area off Highway 63 on Friday the 28th of Aug., there is no foul play suspected.

HE’S ALL RIGHT

On the 2nd of Sept. at approximately 2:10 AM Cst. Greg Dix of the North Bay Police had occasion to see a man fall off his bicycle on Lakeshore Dr. The officer stopped to assist but the man said he was okay and then got back on the bike and once more fell off due to his intoxicated state. The officer then tried to arrest him for his own protection and the cyclist allegedly cursed and took a boxer’s stance and then swung at the officer. He was subdued with the assistance of a passing cab driver.
Andrew DAUST 19 years old of Lakeshore Dr. is charged with Being Intoxicated in a Public Place, Assault to Resist Arrest and 4 counts of Breach of Probation.

911

On the 1st of Sept. at approximately 4:42 PM a woman called 911 to report that she was about to be assaulted. It is alleged that the phone was struck from her hand.
The 911 operator called back to ascertain the problem and then officers were sent to the call.
Csts. Dan Shepstone and Randy Adair of the North Bay Police attended and arrested a male without incident.
Michael MARCOTTE 49 years old of Worthington St. is charged with 2 counts of Assault and Threatening. He was kept in custody for a bail hearing.

ANGER MANAGEMENT

On the evening of the 1st of Sept. it is alleged that a man got into an argument with a woman that was known to him. It is further alleged that on 3 separate occasions he assaulted her on the walk home. In these assaults she fell to the ground. Once at the residence the man then grabbed a knife and held it to her, all the while threatening her and her family. He then went outside for a moment and the victim locked the door. The man then kicked in the door and began to choke the woman until he fled on foot. The woman attended the North Bay Police Headquarters and filed a complaint.
Csts. Ross Lingley and Ashley St. John of our Service attended the woman’s residence and located the alleged assailant inside. The man was then searched and found to be in possession of magic mushroom.
Jeremy YOUNG 23 years old of No Fixed Address is charged with 2 Counts of Assault, Assault With a Weapon, Mischief , Threatening, 5 Counts of Breach of Recognizance, 2 Counts of Breach of Probation and Possession of Magic Mushroom. He was held for a bail hearing.
