Human remains identified as Emsdale man

The human remains discovered in a wooded area in Katrine, south of Burk's Falls, on May 3 have been identified as a missing 41-year-old man from nearby Emsdale, 

On April 9 the Almaguin Highllands OPP began an investigation into the whereabouts of a missing person last seen at his place of work by co-workers. Police did not name the victim.

Foul play has been ruled out.

Police said at the time they believed there was no threat to public safety.

The investigation was carried out with the assistance of the OPP Almaguin Highlands Crime Unit, OPP Emergency Response Team , the OPP Forensic Identification Services and the Office of the Chief Coroner and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service.
