Over the weekend the North Bay Police R.I.D.E. program checked 135 vehicles in 5 different locations. One roadside screening device test was administered, one Highway Traffic Act warning was issued, and one charge processed under the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act.

The R.I.D.E. program will be active over the holidays, in particular New Years Eve and New Years Day.

The North Bay Police wish to caution drivers that if they drink a substantial quantity of alcohol in the evening they can still be impaired the next morning.

Weekend

Over the weekend the North Bay Police responded to 155 calls for service that resulted in 7 arrests. Offences included assaults, domestic assaults, aggravated assaults, disguise with intent, breach of court orders, arrest warrants, and public intoxication.

Stabbings

At 8:30 p.m. on the Dec. 29, two males wearing bandanas over their face entered a Beattie St. residence where they stabbed two other male victims multiple times. When the suspects left the residence they encountered 2 more males and they stabbed both of them as well. The suspects then fled the area but were arrested by police a short distance away. All four victims were taken to hospital by ambulance. Two young offenders have each been charged with possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, forcible entry, disguise with intent to commit an indictable offence, and 4 counts of aggravated assault. Both young persons have been held in custody for bail hearings.
