Barrie youth charged after car hits hydro pole, four homes and two vehicles

OPP have now laid charges after a June 7 accident that saw a driver lose control, hit a hydro pole, four houses and two vehicles in Temiskaming Shores.

The 16-year-old driver, sustained minor injuries.

Both passengers, a 15 and 17-year-old were ejected from the vehicle. The 17-year-old suffered minor injuries. The 15-old suffered serious life-threatening injuries and was rushed by ambulance to the hospital. The people in the homes were not injured.

The accident happened shortly after 2:30 a.m., butTemiskaming OPP say alcohol and drugs were not a factor.

The OPP Technical Traffic Collision Investigators were called into the investigation. The motor vehicle had to be towed from the scene.

A 16-year-old youth from Barrie, who cannot be identified under the provisions of the Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA), has been arrested and charged with two counts of "Dangerous operation causing bodily harm."

The youth was released on an Undertaking and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Youth Court of Justice on August 11 in Temiskaming Shores.
