U16 and U18 Trappers finish up regular season

Nate Gravelle finished with 2 goals and 2 assists as the North Bay U18 Trappers dumped the U16 Trappers 9-1 on Friday night on Sturgeon Falls to wrap up the season for the U18s.  

Gravelle's four point effort pushed him past Greyhounds star Hudson Chitaroni for the league's scoring title. Gravelle finished with 50 and Chitaroni 48.  

U18 forward and Battalion prospect Jesse Lefebvre finished close behind with 47 points in the scoring race while linemate Caleb Dawson finished fourth in league scoring with 44 points.  

Lefebvre and Justin Rousseau had two goals each in that final U18 contest, while singles went to Caleb Dawson, Jacob Payeur, and Grayson Bradley.  Dawson also contributed 3 assists. 

Cohen Paquette had the lone goal for the U16 Trappers. 

Mike Purkhart got the win in goal for the U18s while Owan Heroux suffered the loss.  

The win improved the U18 Trappers record to 21-7 on the season as they finished second behind the first place Soo U18 Greyhounds. 

Meantime on Saturday the U16 Trappers fought back from a 4-1 deficit but just fell short in a 5-3 loss at the hands of the Sudbury U18 Nickel Capitals.  

Brant Romaniuk led the U16s with 1 goal and 2 assists. Singles went to Cameron Piette and Tyler Brunet. Talented defender Mason Rotondo contributed 2 assists.

Jackson Curran was impressive in the setback as he kept his team in the game.  

Dominic Morris led the U18 Nickel Capitals with 3 goals including the late back breaker which gave the Sudbury squad a two-goal lead.  

The Trappers had a late 5 on 3 power play but they couldn't solve Nickel Capitals AJ Borrelli.  
 

U16 Trappers forwaed Bryden Shank led the U16s in scoring this season with 11 goals and 17 assists for 28 points in 27 games. 

The U16 Trappers finished up in 8th in the Great North U18 League.  

Both Trappers teams will travel to Sault Ste. Marie this week to take part in the Great North U18 playoff tournament which begins on Thursday, March 16.
