After going 4 and 0 in the round robin, and a 5-3 Semi Final win versus a very fired up Sudbury Bulldog squad, the North Bay boys faced the top ranked Barrie Colts in the Gold Medal game at the Guelph Power Play tournament this past weekend.

Jack Stockfish opened the Trapper scoring with a feed from Ethan Masson and Brody Belanger. Nicholas Lalonde finished off a beautiful 3 way pass from Owen Bethune and Nat Lalonde for the second goal. Down 4-2 late in the second period, Pacey Schlueting blasted a long shot to bring the North Bay squad to 4-3. With 2 minutes left in the third, and the goalie pulled, Jack Stockfish tied to game up with rush from the red line.

During overtime, the Trappers were down to 3 on 2 hockey, as they had to kill off a penalty. With just under 30 seconds left, and back to 3 on 3, Schlueting carried the puck deep into the Barrie zone, and fed Nicholas Cundari a perfect pass. Cundari calmly hammered his shot behind the Barrie goalie, with North Bay winning 5 to 4 in a thrilling game.

Next stop, the Silver Stick in Sudbury.
