Widdifield honours its athletes

Brandon McBeath and Julia Knox were named Widdifield Senior Secondary's top athletes at their awards banquet on Thursday.

McBeath, was given the Gerald Bailey Memorial Trophy as top male athlete along with sharing the Bleay-Fiske award with Bobby Atkins for outstanding sportsmanship, desire and team contribution with the Senior Boys Volleyball team.

Knox was also honored for leadership and sportsmanship in Senior Girls Volleyball.

Other notables include Katie Weston, who won the Track and Field award for her leadership and sportsmanship. Earlier this spring she was named the NDA top female Track and Field athlete for 2007. In girls soccer Kelli Chamberlain and Jordanna Langill shared the Girls Soccer MVP award.

Brayden Burke and Dave Rodgers were handed the coaches award for outstanding achievement with the Senior Boys Basketball team while Jordan Brooks took home the Neil Carpenter trophy for skill and Sportsmanship with the Senior Boys Football team.
