Weston Top Newcomer at University of Buffalo

North Bay's Katie Weston has been named the Top Newcomer by the University of Buffalo Track and Field team which announced its awards recently for the '07-'08 season.
North Bay's Katie Weston has been named the Top Newcomer by the University of Buffalo Track and Field team which announced its awards recently for the '07-'08 season.

The Top Newcomer Award is presented to the individual student-athlete who distinguishes herself as the most talented new player on the team or the individual who accomplishes the greatest achievements as a first-year player. Weston set her top javelin mark of 154-1 at the UB Invitational, earning a spot in the NCAA East Regionals field where she placed 29th overall. Weston finished third in the javelin (147-9) at the MAC Outdoor Championships as UB posted first- and third-place finishes in the event.

The Widdifield graduate was named the 2007 NDA top female track and field athlete.
