It was a successful day at the track for a number of local high school athletes at the Nipissing Invitational Track and Field meet on the weekend which included athletes from across Northern Ontario…

The West Ferris Trojans were led by Matt Walters who won both the Senior Boys 1500 M and the 3000 meter titles, while John Gore, trying to follow in Adam Newton’s speedy footsteps won the Sr. Boys 100 M sprint with a time of 11.50 seconds.

For Widdifield Heather Cobbledick captured first place in the Senior 1500 and 3000 Meter races…

While Algonquin’s Tanya Simard won both the Sr. Girls Long Jump and the Sr. Girls Triple Jump event, along with a second place finish in the Sr. Girls 100 Meter final.

In Midget, Chippewa’s Eric Faucon captured three first places winning the 100 M hurdles, 300 M hurdles and the Pole Vault events in the Midget age category.

And big day for Chippewa's Tyler Couchie in Junior, as won both the Jr. 400 M dash and the Jr. Long Jump.
