TIMMINS, ON - Eric Mondoux and Jacob Peterson-Galema scored third period goals less than three minutes apart as the Powassan Voodoos edged the Timmins Rock 3-2 at the McIntyre Arena in Timmins Thursday night.

The win moves the Voodoos (37-7-1) back one point up on the Rock for top spot in the NOJHL with two games in hand.

It did not start off the way the Voodoos wanted as the Rock scored twice in the opening frame on goals by Josh Dickson and Gabby Kioki less than two minutes apart which gave the home side the early 2-0 lead.

However, the Voodoos did respond on the power play as Joe Whittet chipped home a rebound off a shot by Gregory Trudeau-Paquet on the power play which made it 2-1 after the opening frame.

After a scoreless second, the Voodoos found the equalizer early in the third, as Mondoux ripped home a shot off an offensive zone faceoff to the right of Rock netminder Tyler Masternak at 4:55.

Peterson-Galema ripped home a shot as he pinched in from the point and fired a wrister past a bewildered Masternak for what proved to be the game-winner at 7:29.

Owen Say and the Voodoos defence shut the door the rest of the way, as Say finished with 33 saves for the win.

The Voodoos are back in action Friday night as they head North to face the Hearst Lumberjacks.
